Sustainable yoga mats that protect our oceans
Southern Shores is committed to protecting our oceans. The label, based in Schleswig-Holstein, Germany, produces sustainable yoga products, donates 1 % of its sales to the global protection of whales and dolphins and organises weekly beach cleanups, which have already collected more than 2 tons of rubbish from the beaches of Barcelona since 2019. With its Ocean Mat, Southern Shores has created arguably the most sustainable natural rubber mat on the market.
Southern Shores yoga mats: non-slip, eco-friendly and certified
The yoga mat Ocean Mat consists of 1.9 kg of FSC-certified eco natural rubber, 400 g of recycled natural rubber and 120 g ecologically grown organic cotton. This eco-friendly material blend is not only good for the planet, but also perfect for your yoga practice. The natural rubber surface is completely non-slip and guarantees that you can fully concentrate on yourself and your alignment during your workout. The top and bottom of the mat are bonded together by high heat. This allows Southern Shores to avoid the use of toxic adhesives in the mat production.
Sustainable, eco-friendly materials – recycled and organic
The recycled natural rubber used is leftover from the rubber industry and Southern Shores is making a significant contribution to reducing waste by recycling it. The mat is held together by an innovative fabric made of sustainably grown cotton, which makes it practically impossible for the mat to stretch apart on the floor. The German yoga label also attaches great importance to social and ecological sustainability when selecting its production partners. Among other things, the Taiwanese manufacturer offers insurance as well as training and further education opportunities for each employee, pension plans, health care and other social benefits.
