Product information "Plaid Native - The Cosy Grey"

The wool blankets are real eye-catchers in your home. Handwoven and made from pure alpaca wool mixed with acrylic, which gives the fabric a particularly robust feel. The blanket is reversible and has an eye-catching print on both sides. Due to the manual manufacturing process in the wool weaving mills, the composition and dimensions may vary.

About the label

Alpaca Loca is a young, innovative label that specializes in the design and manufacture of quality products made of alpaca wool. Alpaca wool is a natural, super soft fabric with many advantages over sheep's wool or cashmere. It is hypoallergenic as it does not contain lanolin like sheep's wool. The structure of alpaca wool is stronger than that of sheep's wool or cashmere. It lints a lot less, which makes it very comfortable to wear and doesn't scratch. It is very dirt and water repellent and thanks to the hollow fiber it insulates very well and is wonderfully warm. The wool for the Alpaca Loca products comes from alpacas in Ecuador, where the products are made by hand by a community of weavers. All products are 100% natural and fair trade.

The alpaca shearing

Since the winters in the Andes are very cold, the alpaca needs a thick coat. Summers, on the other hand, can be extremely hot; become. Nature then ensures that the alpaca fur partially falls out by itself, but the Peruvian and Ecuadorian farmers help the animals to get rid of their wool. Without shearing, the animal would suffer too much from the thick wool. The shearing takes place under strict state supervision. The yarns come mainly from small wool farmers whose income depends on their animals and who therefore treat them particularly well. In addition, special electric shavers are used, so that the clipping takes a maximum of 20 minutes and is only needed once a year. This way, the process is very animal-friendly from start to finish.
